Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the need of the Graduate School of Nursing and to provide approaches in order to establish the Graduate School of Nursing.

Data were collected by the questionnaire, literature review, and internet sites. The questionnaire was utilized to investigate the need of the Graduate School of Nursing.

Now, there are twenty-five nursing speciality areas in Korea. Clinical nurse specialists are working actively for infection control, Diabetes Mellitus, QI, home care, and organ transplantation.

It was estimated that approximately 126,000 clinical nurse specialists which consists 5% of the total number of nurses may be needed in 2010.

In this study, the main focus of the proposed Graduate School of Nursing program was to produce advanced clinical nurse specialists who can function independently in many clinical areas. The majority of the subjects were supportive in establishing the Graduate School of Nursing. Flexible curriculums for the Graduate School of Nursing were requested by the nurses such as night classes, summer and winter classes, distant education, and credit registration systems.

To attain this goal, a master program(five semesters), a post master program(two semesters), and an one year program for masters are required.
